Sources:

  1. A full transcription of the 1961 Scottish equivalent of the parish level table in the rest of Great Britain - Table 3A - Acreage, population, private households and dwellings for - "Administrative County, Districts of County, County Council Electoral Divisions New Towns, Burghs -Large and Small" and for -"County of City, City Wards".

Notes:

  1. These data were originally input by the Centre for Data Digitisation and Analysis at the Queen's University of Belfast.
  2. Data for the four Scottish cities and the county of Selkirk were input by Paula Aucott at the University of Portsmouth in January 2015.
  3. The figures for New Towns have not been trasncribed because they are included in the other figures given for the county. Total figures have also not been transcribed.
  4. Currently there are no city/burgh wards or CCEDs in the AUO therefore the columns containing G_UNIT IDs for these units are blank.

Checking:

  1. This dataset has been verified in a number of ways. All numeric fields, with the exception of pop_1951, h_hold and dwelling have been checked by summing the OCR'd data and comparing the sums with sums provided in the original report.
  2. All name fields were cross-referenced against the Adminsitrative Unit Ontology to verify the name spellings and to add in unit idenitifers. Mis-matches that were transcription errorrs were identified and corrected from scans of the originals.
