1922General Election: Conservative victory

This was the first election held after most of Ireland separated from the United Kingdom to become the Irish Free State (strictly speaking, the Free State was created after the election, on 6th December 1922, but it replaced the self-declared Irish Republic created in January 1919). The Liberal party were deeply split between Asquith's Liberals and Lloyd George's National Liberals, leading to a Conservative victory and Labour obtaining more votes and seats than the two Liberal factions combined.
